About Southview Clinic

Established by David and Alex Reynolds in Marlow in 1988 we provide a caring, informed and holistic approach to the specific needs of our patients.

Alexandra Reynolds SRP MCSP Lic Ac AACP Physiotherapist & Acupuncturist

Alex graduated from Oswestry and North Staffs Orthopaedic Hospital as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1982. She has gained extensive experience both in the NHS and in private hospitals and practices. She has worked both in the U.K and abroad before setting up in private practice with her husband in Marlow.

Alex enrolled on the Traditional Chinese Acupuncture course at the British College of Acupuncture in September 1991 qualifying in July 1993.

Orthopaedics and acupuncture are of special interest .Alex is an Advanced member of the AACP ( Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) which requires the continual and regular updating of knowledge and skills.

In 2008 she completed a post graduate certificate in acupuncture on the Masters Degree course at Coventry University. She has also lectured to physiotherapists on the post graduate acupuncture course at Nottingham University. With over 25 years of experience as a physiotherapist and 16 years as an acupuncturist, she believes in a multi-disciplinary approach in the management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems. Alex is experienced in the treatment of a wide range of conditions such as whiplash, back pain, arthritis and sports injuries. She uses exercise, core stability, mobilisation, acupuncture, taping, massage and electrotherapy.

Working closely with local Orthopaedic surgeons, she is able to provide a post –operative rehabilitation service following procedures such as spinal decompression and fusion, discectomy, trans foraminal injections, hip replacements/resurfacing, knee procedures and shoulder operations.

Alex is also experienced in the treatment of stress and anxiety related disorders, women’s health problems and promoting health and well being with acupuncture.

David Reynolds

David qualified as an Osteopath in 1983 having undergone the 4 year full time course at the BCNO now called The British College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also qualified as a Naturopath at this time.

He worked for 5 years in a well established osteopathic practice in the City. Here he was taught the use of acupuncture in musculoskeletal conditions.

At this time he also established his own part time clinic in Surrey. In 1988 he left the City and opened the Marlow practice.

To further his acupuncture studies, he enrolled on the 2 year post graduate course in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture at the British College of Acupuncture qualifying in 1993 and then studied Chinese Herbal Medicine at the London Academy of Oriental Medicine for 2.5 years qualifying as a Chinese Medical Herbalist in July 1995.

David treats a wide range of conditions in all age groups. With over 25 years of experience in Osteopathy and16 years experience in traditional Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, he is able to integrate his approach to treatment to the benefit of the patient.

He applies this integrated approach to the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders such as low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, whiplash and peripheral joint problems involving the upper and lower limbs. He treats sports injuries from both the professional and amateur arenas.

Current NICE guidelines recommend the use of both manual therapy and acupuncture for the treatment of low back pain. David is able to combine his diagnostic and therapeutic skills as an Osteopath with his wide knowledge of acupuncture to enhance recovery time.

He also specializes in the treatment of fertility problems, women’s health issues, digestive disorders such as IBS, stress and anxiety, poor immune function and the side effects associated with chemo/radio therapy in cancer care.

David has undergone post graduate training in the Traditional Chinese medical approach to infertility, specifically using acupuncture and chinese herbal medicine to improve female and male fertility. The use of acupuncture alongside Assisted Reproductive Techniques such as IVF, ICSI and IUI has been shown to optimise conception rates. Acupuncture also helps to reduce anxiety related to the IVF process. Acupuncture has also been shown to be effective in improving sperm quality, especially morphology and motility.

David is a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network. As a qualified Naturopath, he is able to give nutritional advice when appropriate.
