Alex qualified from Oswestry and North Staffs Orthopaedic hospital as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1982. She gained extensive experience both in the NHS and in private practices. She has worked both in the U.K and abroad in a variety of clinical settings before setting up in private practice in Marlow.

In 1993 Alex qualified as an acupuncturist, training at the British college of Acupuncture in London. She has since lectured to colleagues training in acupuncture at Nottingham University and gained a post graduate certificate on the Masters degree course at Coventry University in 2008. She is an advanced member of the AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists)

Continual professional development is important and Alex was able to develop her interest and treatment of temporomandibular disorder (TMD)when she attended the first multi disciplinary Masters module at Liverpool university in June 2014.

With over 30 years experience as a physiotherapist and 20 years as an acupuncturist, she believes a multi disciplinary approach is key in the management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems.

Alex is experienced in the treatment of a wide range of conditions such as whiplash, back pain, arthritis and sports injuries. She uses exercises, core stability, mobilisation, acupuncture, taping, massage and electro therapy.

Working closely with local orthopaedic surgeons she is able to provide a post operative rehabilitation service following procedures such as spinal decompression and fusion, transforaminal injections, micro discectomy, hip replacements/resurfacing, knee procedures, foot and ankle procedures and shoulder operations.
Alex is also experienced in the treatment of stress and anxiety disorders and providing health and well being treatments with acupuncture.

Outside of work Alex enjoys swimming, walking, reading and theatre.

David qualified as an Osteopath in 1983 at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in London. He then worked for 5 years as an associate in a renowned City of London practice established in 1938 working alongside a highly experienced Osteopath and Acupuncturist. He underwent training in musculoskeletal acupuncture at this clinic and during his time there treated amongst others, professional footballers, boxers, politicians, actors and ambassadors.

At this time, he also established his own part time practice in Surrey, which he still runs today 33 years later.

In 1988 he left the City and moved to Marlow and set up what is now The Southview Clinic. To further his acupuncture studies, he trained in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture at the British College of Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at the London Academy of Oriental Medicine.

David treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions throughout all age groups integrating his approach according to the needs of the patient. These conditions include low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, whiplash, and peripheral joint problems such as Tennis Elbow, Frozen Shoulder and knee pain. He treats sports injuries from both the professional and recreational arenas across many disciplines including Golf, Rugby, Running, Kayaking, Football, Motocross and even Ski Jumping.

He sees the ability to integrate acupuncture and osteopathy as a key benefit to the patient, especially in complex musculoskeletal conditions. Alongside accurate diagnosis, advice on exercise, diet and lifestyle are also important for a successful outcome.

Alongside his musculoskeletal work, David has many years of experience in using acupuncture for the treatment of infertility, Women’s Health, stress and anxiety, poor immune function, digestive disorders and the reduction of side effects in chemo/radio therapy.

David and Alex have three children. David coaches youth rugby at Marlow RUFC and enjoys fell walking and off road cycling. He is also a keen skier.


About the Southview Clinic

In 2002 Alex and David had their own purpose built clinic constructed by Norwegian Log Buildings inspired by seeing their lodges at the Harleyford Estate. The clinic has 2 treatment rooms, a spacious waitng room for clients and on-site parking. It is situated in a peaceful location in Southview Road, about 1 mile from the town centre.
