Patient Information

Please read the following information before you attend the Smithbrook Clinic.

Procedures and policies have been put in place at the Southview Clinic to safeguard patients and minimise the risk of cross infection of Covid-19. Please click here to view the measures we have put in place to adapt the clinic in the current Covid-19 situation.

Before an appointment is made an initial pre-screening will take place via telephone in order to determine whether your condition can be treated remotely, either by video consultation or through relevant advice and support(safety-netting) or whether a face to face consultation is appropriate.

Once a visit to the clinic has been judged to be appropriate, a risk assessment will be made to discuss and determine your exposure to Covid-19.

A consent form with these questions will be emailed to you alongside this patient information sheet for you to read and sign and bring with you to your consultation.

  • Upon arrival the patient will be asked to remain in their car until they are called into the clinic.
  • The patient’s temperature will be taken at the entrance. This must be below 37.5 for the visit to continue.
  • Only 1 patient will be admitted into the clinic at any one time. If a chaperone is necessary, this must be pre arranged and an assessment/consent procedure made with them as well.
  • During the consultation we will maintain a 2 metre distance where possible and try to limit contact time to 15 minutes.
  • On entering the clinic the patient will be requested to sanitise their hands with the hand sanitiser provided.
  • The patient may bring their own surgical mask, otherwise a mask will be provided for a small charge.
  • We request that the patient brings as few items into the clinic as possible i.e. car keys and one small bag.
  • The practitioner will be wearing a mask, disposable apron and gloves
  • All linens have been removed from the clinic and all surfaces are wipe down including couch, chairs, pillows, supports etc.
  • A 20 minute period will be used between patients to allow air exchange and to clean the treatment room and reception area in accordance with Covid-19 infection prevention regulations.
  • The patient will be instructed to hand sanitise on leaving the clinic and keep their mask on for their own disposal.
  • Payments are to be made where possible by BACS or by contactless.
